Hello Y’all! Welcome!

Burgess Taylor
Burgess Taylor

My name is Burgess Taylor. What? You haven’t heard of me?

Well, that’s because I’m an aspiring author, which means I haven’t published yet. My novel is a work in progress.

What’s this blog about you ask…A little bit of this and a little bit of that, but mostly it’s about writing, life, inspiration, motivation, and whatever else comes to mind while I’m working on my novel and living life. I’m not quite sure of what genre my book falls into yet, but it’s definitely paranormal. And…

While I’m writing, no matter what I’m writing, I’m usually drinking coffee (or Dr. Pepper, or sweet iced tea, yes I’m from the South–South Carolina to be exact). I don’t really listen to music while I write because I’ll end up typing what I hear. Not a good thing when you find the lyrics to songs in your work-in-progress. My favorite authors of all time are: Stephen King, Dean Koontz, James Patterson, Vonnegut, Bradbury, Nora Roberts, John Sandford, Jim Butcher (his Dresden Files series), Sherrilyn Kenyon, Sue Grafton, Laurell K. Hamilton, and last but not least, C.S. Lewis and Tolkien. I’m an avid reader, an ameteur photographer, and a DIYer. My next big projects are: my writing space, our backyard, and our kitchen (I’m about to start adding DIY backsplash).

And where does all of this writing  take place? Right here in my new creative space. I’ve had that red desk in almost every room in the house and I have to say that the aqua colored walls and the red really do work the best for me. Not that I don’t miss the purple walls of my old writing room, but this room is calmer, happier, and soothes me yet brings out my creativity at the same time. This pictures show books that still need to be put away… I’ve found a spot for most of those books. Soon I’ll do a tour of the room, as well as my bookshelves.

That’s all for now, folks. I’m off to write a new chapter and drink my coffee before it gets cold. Stop by some time and join me for a virtual cup or just to say “Hey!”

Have you read Rainbow Rowell’s Eleanor and Park? It’s beautifully written. The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger is another modern “classic”.
